When deciding about which camp ground to stay, you have to think about the activities which you want to do. My most favourite camping area in Florida is the Highlands Hammock State Park. Highlands Hammock State Park is one of the oldest park of Florida which was opened to the public in !931.  This park has an area of over 900 acres and it is famous for its old hammock trees, cypress swamps and wildlife.
The Hammock State Park contains a very beautiful and vast botanical garden, which is visited by many plant lovers. It also contains a place for bicycling, which is a scenic loop of almost 3 miles. Other popular activity in this park is the ranger guided tour of the park, in which you can visit all the major sites of the park.
If you like primitive camping then you will find a section for this in the park which contains some individual sites as well as a few group camp sites. A recreational hall, several picnic pavilions and a museum is also there in the park.

Relaxing and Book Reading

Highlands Hammock State park is one of the best places in Florida, if you are wanting to relax and read books. There are more than 150 campsites which are nestled under a canopy of large trees. All you have to do is to just get out your camping chair, lay back, read your book and enjoy the quiet environment of the park.
When you get tired of just sitting around, you can take a leisurely tram ride through the park and learn about the parks history or just visit the museum. You can also enjoy the nature by having a walk through the remote areas of the south canal.

Great way to relax

Adventurous and Energetic Part

If you are a more adventurous and energetic person, there are plenty of things to do for you in Hammock State Park. There is a volleyball court, shuffle board, horseshoes and a large play ground in the camp site. These all activities will be very rewarding and beneficial for your health. There is also a 3 mile loop that will take you to the heart of the hammock. This paved road is ideal for bike riding as well as for jogging. There are nine hiking trials throughout the loop. These trials will take you deep into the hammock where very little sunshine reaches the floor due to huge Oaks and Palm trees. If you want a longer bike ride, a very scenic route around Lake Jackson is there at a distance of just 20 moles from the campground.

Cooking and eating in outdoors

When you are having a good time while camping in one of the most diverse park of Florida, you can enjoy another benefit of camping which is cooking and eating outdoors. You should have a camping grill with you, just take it out and cook your food. You can also cook your food on an open fire in the campfire rings especially if you are looking to roast something on it, if you have any experience of it. After the dinner, you can enjoy your time and relax with your friends and family.

My personal experience about camping

I have been camping with my friends since past few years and we have discovered that camping is one of the best way to enjoy the beauty of nature, especially when you want to spend some time outdoors with your friends and family. To me the best part of camping is to enjoy your meal outdoors, especially when you have cooked it by yourself on an outdoor grill. I feel better taste and smell of food when it is cooked and eaten outdoors. Besides all it is a best way to meet new and exciting people.
